Installation - To install this application you should use your standard install procedure for your device.  You need to Install (HotSync) two files: PADEN.PRC (or PADDE.PRC - German) (Palm Executable File), and PADDB.PDB (Palm Database File) to your device.

Once the application has been installed you will see an icon similar to the one to the left, located under the Unfiled category.  Refer to your Palm documentation on how to categorize applications if you wish to re-categorize PAD.  Once PAD has been installed you can click on the PAD 3.01 icon to launch the application.  There is a one-time process that extracts the default configuration, once the configuration is complete PAD will load.  If you additional help on installing applications see the PalmSource Guide (and Shockwave Demo).

Note: after you run PAD for the first time you can copy the PAD.PRC file to a memory card, but the database files must remain internally.

This screen has several parts.  First, in the top right you will see the Category that the record belongs to.  Below that, is the Term that you are viewing.  Anytime you see the Term followed by a .. that indicates that the term has multiple definitions.  If the term is followed by a ( ) that indicates that it has additional parts that change the word to mean other things.  Example: ACAR(S)(MU) is defined as Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting (System) (Management Unit) where the (S) and (MU) might or might not be found in the Term you are seeking.  Below that you will see the definition(s) to the word you are viewing.

[<<]Goto FIRST record [ < ]BACK ONE record [ > ]FORWARD ONE record [>>]Goto LAST record (Done)Return to HOME

Printing (New 2.3) - The record screen now has an option ([ Print Record ]) to allow you to print terms from your handheld.  In order for this feature to work you must download and install PalmPrint or SCS Print Server (http://stevenscreek.com/...) software on your handheld, once this software is installed then you should be able to use this feature.  There are many configurations that can be used, such as IR (recommended), Serial and PDA (Hotsync Connection) to PC.  Refer to the Stevens Creek Software website and documentation on how to configure these options.
