Thank you for purchasing the
Production Software Inc. E6-B (PS E6B). This application allows you to perform
all the calculations necessary for a safe and successful flight. In
addition to the standard E6-B type calculations, the PS E6B includes a graphical
landing and holding pattern calculator, full weight and balance calculations,
and a flight timer with leg storage. Our application was designed by and written
for pilots! You'll find that it is the easiest, most intuitive application on
the market today. We hope you enjoy using it.

The PS E6B is simple to operate
and easy to understand. Navigation is as quick as pressing a
button. To perform a calculation, just navigate to the desired function
and enter the requested values. Once all the required data fields are
filled in, the PS E6B will automatically calculate the desired result.
To change a value already
entered, just select the desired field by either tapping it or use the
navigation buttons built into your device. The current field is indicated
by the arrow next to it. As soon as you accept a new value, the results
are automatically calculated. Values are accepted by selecting another
field, pressing enter, or navigating away from the current field.
To force a calculation, you
may press the [Calc] button at any time. If all required values
are present, the calculation will take place and the resulting value will be
displayed.
If necessary, you may press
the [Clear] button to quickly erase all displayed values.
When you are finished with a
function, just press the [Back] button to return to the previous
screen. All entered and calculated values will be retained for use in
other functions.
Menus are selected by either
pressing the menu button on the device or tapping in the title section of the
screen.
All screens are designed to be
processed either by using the stylus or with one finger while holding the
device in your hand. Values can be entered using all the standard methods
supported by your device including handwriting recognition, the standard pop-up
keyboard, or the custom PS E6B data entry keypad.
Pressing the [Keypad]
button will display the custom data entry keypad which is designed for use with
your finger. In addition, a variety of data conversions can be selected
by pressing the [Cnvt] button from the keypad
screen.
The data entry screens accept
the standard Cut, Copy, and Paste edit menu options.
Once a value is accepted, it
is automatically rounded to the appropriate decimal place.
See Also:
When the [Keypad]
button is pressed, a full screen keypad will appear. This screen will
have the title of the value to be entered. This keypad works like any
standard calculator keypad. You just press the numbers you desire and
they appear.
If you need to erase a value
completely, press the [C] button.
If you need to erase just the last digit displayed, press the [<<] button.
To convert a number from one
type to another, press the [Cnvt] button and
the conversion menu will appear. You may then select the type of
conversion you desire.
Once you are satisfied with
the value you have entered you may press the [Yes] button.
If you do not wish to use the value displayed, simply press the [No]
button. After pressing either button you will be returned to the previous
data entry screen. If you accepted the value, the next field will be
selected for you automatically. If you declined the value, you will be
returned to the same field you where on when you called for the keypad.
If the value you are entering
allows, your keypad will have additional buttons such as [:], [.],
and [+/-]. If you do not see these buttons, this is an indication
that the requested value does not accept such input.
See Also:
The PS E6B provides many
standard conversions at a click of a button. When the [Cnvt] button is pressed from the custom keypad, a list
of appropriate conversions will be displayed. That is to say, if the
field you are in is asking for a distance value, you will be allowed to convert
to/from nautical miles, statute miles, kilometers, feet and meters. If
the field you are in is asking for a time value, you will be allowed to convert
decimal hours to/from standard time formatted values.
To convert any value to any
other value, without restriction, please use the generic Conversion function.

The pattern entry features of the PS E6B application consists of two screens:
Landing and Holding.
Landing

are entered.
To change from left to right traffic, press the [Pattern] button.
To change the runway, wind direction, or wind speed, press the appropriate
button and the custom data entry keypad will be displayed. Enter an
appropriate value between degrees 1-360. Runway headings are entered as
full headings. For example, runway 18 is entered as 180. Once
selected, the [Up] and [Down]
arrows will change the values in appropriate increments.
When you are finished with the landing pattern functions, press the [Back] button to return to the previous screen.
Holding
The Holding screen allows you to visualize the various entries required for an
IFR holding pattern. This screen requires that you enter your current
heading and the assigned radial. A line will be drawn that indicates your
current flight path relative to the required pattern. If a teardrop entry
is required, the recommended entry heading will also be displayed.
To change the pattern from standard to non-standard, press the [Pattern] button.
To change the heading or radial, press the appropriate button and the custom

deleted. When you are finished with the weight and balance functions,
press the [Back] button to return to the previous screen.
Item Edit
The Item
Edit screen allows you to enter the Weight and Arm for each
critical flight item. The Item field accepts a textual description
for the item to be calculated. Once the Weight and Arm
fields are accepted, the current Movement, Total Weight, and
current Center of Gravity is calculated.
To add a new item, press the [Add] button. To delete the current
item, press the [Del] button. If there are
multiple items in the database, the [Next] and [Prev]
buttons may appear depending upon your location in the list.

The Timers screen provides two
separate timers for your flying needs: a Primary Timer for basic up/down counting,
and a Leg Timer ideal for use during holds.
The Primary Timer is initiated
by pressing the [Start] button. Once started, the timer begins to
count in the direction of the arrow next to time displayed. To change the
direction, press the [Up] or [Down] button. You may change
direction while the timer is in progress. To pause the timer
press the [Stop] button. Timing can be resumed by pressing
the [Start] button once again. To set the timer back to "00:00:00",
press the [Reset] button. If desired, an initial time value can be entered by pressing the
display time button. A keypad will then be displayed, allowing the entry
of any valid time value. Once the new time value is accepted, the timer
can be used to count up or down from that point.
The Leg Timer works much like
the Primary Timer, except that when the [Leg] button is pressed, the
current time is recorded in one of four leg counters and the timer is reset to
"00:00:00". Each successive press of the [Leg] button
increments the counter. When the counter reaches position four, it wraps
to the position one and starts over. To erase all the values stored in
the leg counters, press the [Clear] button.
Time values may be entered in
one of two formats: hours, minutes, and seconds separated by colons in the
format of "HH:MM:SS", or in decimal hour equivalents in the format of
H.h (where H is the whole hour and h is the fraction
thereof). If you enter a decimal value, the display will be converted to
the standard time format once you accept that value. For example, if you
key in "1.252" the display will show "01:15:07". The maximum time
value is "99:59:59", if you enter a value greater than this, the
field will be replaced with "Err".
